GETTING MICHIGAN BACK ON TRACK
Fighting Outsourcing, Strengthening our Economy
Good-paying jobs are key to supporting Southwest Michigan-area families. That's why Neal Nitz is fighting the outsourcing of Michigan jobs by making our state more attractive for small businesses and job providers.
Nitz voted to cut taxes on small businesses in half and he voted to end the tax on health care. No job provider should be taxed for providing their workers with good benefits.
Investing More in our Kids
Providing every child in Michigan with a high quality education is key to Michigan's success in the global economy. Despite a tight budget, Nitz secured record K-12 funding, and is committed to ensuring our community colleges and universities get the resources they need to thrive.
Nitz has also stood up against attempts to eliminate college scholarships, including a plan to raid the Merit Scholarship Fund. Nitz will fight for our students to ensure that a college education is accessible and affordable.
Fighting for us at the gas pump
Nitz authored six bills that were recently signed into law that lower the state tax on renewable fuels such as E-85 (85% ethanol) and B5 (5% biodiesel). These fuels are better for our environment, better for our local economy as they will be produced right here in Michigan, and better for our energy future. Better yet, E-85 is generally cheaper than regular unleaded.
Nitz worked with gas stations by offering grants to those who invest in equipment to dispense renewable fuels.
Nitz created ten new renewable energy tax free zones in the state to attract renewable energy producers to Michigan.
Nitz told the state of Michigan be a leader and use renewable fuels in their vehicles.
Nitz stood up to the oil industry and told them he would not support legislation that would set a minumum price on gasoline.
